I am an avid reader. I read mostly Amish fiction but also read other novels. I enjoy romance, mystery, and Christian devotionals. I enjoy hiking in the outdoors, especially in Greenways and State or National Parks. I love my grandson. He is my favorite subject, so I'll post about him and his antics.

    1. Thank you Hugh! A little more than 4,000 people live on the island year round. The majority live in the incorporated city of Avalon and a small percentage live in the unincorporated village of Two Harbors. They do have grocery stores, a hospital, medical and dental services. The island is part of Los Angeles County, California. The cost of living is extremely high with an average median income of $111,184. Of side interest one has to have permission to own a car with a 25-year wait list. The only way onto the Island is by Ferry & walking everywhere is easily done.

      1. I had no idea about this island, Deb. It sounds like a wonderful place, but your description also made me think about some of those eerie movies with places like that.

A 25-year waiting list for a car? I’d rather hire one as and when I need one, rather than wait that long. Anyhow, my driving licence will have expired by the time I reach the top of that waitlist.

        1. lol , but since walking everywhere is easily accessible you wouldn’t need a car. However, I won’t even come close to the median income needed for living on the island. I’ll just have to be content with visiting occasionally.
