Reconstructed Historic Schoolhouse
At Andrew Jackson State Park stands an Historic Schoolhouse which was reconstructed for the site. It vividly represents the kind of simple, one-room schoolhouses that would have been typical during Jackson’s youth in the late eighteenth (18th) century.

Andrew Jackson State Park’s replica Schoolhouse is open from med-March to November on Saturdays from 1pm to 5 pm and on Sundays from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Tours of the one-room schoolhouse at Andrew Jackson State Park are actively hosted and led by the members of the Retired Educators of Lancaster County. While specific tour schedules can vary, the park generally offers interpretive experiences for visitors to learn about early 19th-century education.

You can also explore the schoolhouse interior on a self-guided basis, with informational signs providing context about the period and what school life was like.
