2023 CFFC: Gold or Silver

When I think of Gold or Silver I think about a Scripture verse in the Holy Bible. It is actually the first portion of Acts chapter three verse six.

“Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: …”

Acts 3:6 NKJV

Gold, especially, was a symbol which stood for anything of great value. There are many things considered to be more valuable than gold or silver. The things to which I am referring to are not tangible, but still extremely important and valuable. These things are (in no particular order):

  • Friendship
  • Love
  • Faith
  • I/You are Valuable
  • Wisdom
  • The Word of God
  • Good Health

2023 CFFC: Anything that makes you feel cold

Rare Lancaster Winter

Lancaster County, South Carolina does not get snow ❄️ and/or icy weather every winter. I remember when we came back here in 1999, my Uncle Eddie saying that hadn’t had snow ❄️ it almost fifteen years. Guess what? We had a good snowstorm that winter. Lancaster and Chester Counties in South Carolina usually only get snow if the snowstorm is approaching from the south. And it rarely happens before February, so it is an oddity when it occurs. My daughter, having been born in California, had rarely lived through a snowy winter. Where we lived in California we had to drive to the mountains to see and play in the snow. She enjoyed playing in the snow that first winter in the Carolinas.

2023 CFFC: Makes You Laugh or Smile

What or who makes me laugh? The answer to that is easy to answer. It is hands down, my grandson, Coleman. He has been my joy and inspiration since he came into my world four years ago. I have had the privilege of watching him grow and develop into an awesome little boy. Yes, at times he annoys and frustrates me when he doesn’t listen or follow given instructions, but then he’ll want a hug and says, “I love you”! You have to listen carefully; he talks with a lisp, so it is sometimes difficult to understand what he is saying. Even though some people have a difficult time, most of the time I can understand him and when he tells me he loves me; it brings a smile to my face and joy to my heart.

Sticks and Stones Around the Carolinas

Sticks and Stones can be found high and low and all around. Some stones can be walked on, but be careful you don’t stumble and get hurt. Some stones draw your attention to an amazing object or view. While other stones bring about sadness and the memories you wish you could still feel and hold onto.

Sticks can be a nuisance or extremely useful, as in an outdoor fire pit. Sometimes branches and limbs break off of tress during storms and cling together along a body of water. Sometimes sticks need to removed from a trail so hikers don’t stumble over them and get hurt. At other times a fallen tree is cut up and the wood is out to good use. I’m not sure why my maternal grandfather and his sister were sitting on top of the pile of sticks (wood), they may have needed a break after piling it all up in a neat stack.

2023 CFFC: MasterCard – There are some things money can’t buy…

This is a hard one to decide which photos to choose, there are so many which hold precious memories and special moments that money could never buy. How to decide, that is the question?

From 1975:

Myself, My Maternal Grandmother, Melvina and my Brother, Larry [I don’t remember this being taken; however, it is the one of very few of me with my grandmother].

My Family from 1986 through 1999:

These represent happy memories in the beginning. The last photo was taken at my eldest son’s high school graduation & it was the last time we were together as a family. Everything changed from that point on, but I still loved him.

I went with my sister-in-law’s sister, Monica, however, she tended to stay in the cabin more than wandering around. I chose to make the most of the trip enjoy myself, which I did. I had a fabulous time on and off the cruise ship.
