2025 Which Way Challenge (CWWC): Any Which Way (Your Choice)

Welcome back to the Which Way Challenge. I trust y’all had a lovely Thanksgiving week so far. I know we certainly did. Now we didn’t spend the day cooking over a hot stove or oven, but we did enjoy a delicious turkey dinner courtesy of Bob Evans Restaurant. Let me tell you they were doing a pretty good business on this (yesterday’s) Thanksgiving. I’ll tell y’all more about Bob Evans Restaurant during a future post.

We also didn’t stay home bored to death thinking there was anything to do. We might not have had any family or friends to gather with and enjoy the day together, but we (at least I think) enjoyed a tremendous afternoon together (my daughter, my grandson, and myself) visiting a park we had not been to previously and did a wee bit of hiking.

If you’ve read my posts before, you’ll understand my grandson loves to hike and spend as much time as possible in the outdoors among nature. After devouring our delicious turkey meal (Coleman only ate the vegetables (he doesn’t like meat) at Bob Evans in Huntersville, we (actually my daughter) drove to Ramsey Creek Park which is along Lake Norman in North Carolina.

This being a holiday weekend I decided to make this Friday’s Which Way Challenge  theme;  Any Which Way (Your Choice). Your Which Ways can be Any Which Way on any Road, Pathways, Walkways, Sidewalks, Stairs, etc. as long as your Which Ways are clearly visible.

Here are my entries for this week … from our Thanksgiving Day Hike …

2025 Which Way Challenge (CWWC): Any Which Way in Black and White

This Friday’s Which Way Challenge we will be continuing with Any Which Way in Black and White in memory of Cee and her Black and White Challenge (CBWC).

In Memory of
Cee’s Black & White Challenge

I have selected to post Black & White shots of Bridges in memory of Cee’s love of Bridges.

Coleman and I had such a lovely time together walking through the trails in Goat Island Park and Greenway on Sunday …

… I just had to share a little bit of our hike with y’all.

This is the first Bridge you cross when you enter Goat Island. Coleman is waiting for me to catch up …

Continuing on the Bridge, we see some amazing #Shadows ( I know this is not squared).

Here we’ve come to the second Bridge one crosses leading to the Dog Park.

And Finally, here is the third Bridge

From here it is just a little bit further to the end of the trail where there are benches you can relax and rest up for the hike back to the entrance of Goat Island Park and Greenway where our adventures began.

2025 Which Way Challenge (CWWC): Any which way with lines

Cee’s Which Way Challenge

Hope y’all have had a fantastic week so far. It’s Friday already and time for another Which Way ChallengeThis week we are looking at (CWWC): Any which way with lines. This Challenge of Any Which Way with Lines will run for two (2) weeks. Remember your Which Ways should be clearly discernibleSigns are always welcome in your Which Way post. The photos can be ones you’ve taken recently or from your archives. Let’s all have fun!

Here are my Which Ways for this week’s challenge …

Walking alongside the South Fork Catawba River we gaze over the river and notice the lines of the trench leading to the river and in the tree on the riverbank.

Lines towards River
and in the Tree

We progress further on our adventure by crossing the Goat Island Bridge which is filled with an abundance of horizontal and vertical lines.

Coleman
standing on the
Goat Island Bridge
waiting for me
to catch up.

As we move along the Disc Golf Trail the lines in the disc golf catcher can be readily seen. Looking up ahead is the fence line with both vertical and horizontal boards.

Coleman on the
Disc Golf Trail

Moving on, time to permit a bit of playtime for Coleman. Notice the black lines formed by the playground equipment.

Coleman on top
of a climbing apparatus
in the Goat Island Playground.

The weather being hot and humid, we are reading to head towards home. Guess what? The sidewalk and parking lot are all filled with (yes, that’s right) lines.

Here are my Which Ways for this week’s challenge … our trail as we hiked to visit the horses at the Greenway …

Hiking down the dirt and gravel pathway past the hay bales and the cows in the pasture we reach one of several horse stables … we visit with all the horses in the stables before turning back towards the parking area.

The trail pathway is long, we did not go all the way on the trail as the recent thunderstorms created significant puddles and muddy areas. Remember signs are always welcome like this Privately Owned Horses … Do Not Pet or Feed sign.

There are a few more stable areas along the hike back as well as practice riding and jumping corrals.

2025 CFFC: View from Below— High Angle

This week I have chosen to combine Dan’s CFFC with Judy’s Numbers Game. After all Judy gives the option (If instead of numbers, you have changed the identifiers of all your photos into words, pick a word or words to use instead, and show us a variety of photos that contain that word in the title.) Dan’s theme this week is View from Below—High Angle combining some of his chosen photos with my CWWC—Any animal in your which way.

My entries for Dan’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge are a hodgepodge of photos shot from below (looking up) from various places and years.

2025 Which Way Challenge (CWWC): Any animal in your which way Viewed from Above (CFFC)

Good day! I trust everyone has had a wonderful week so far. Welcome back to another Which Way Challenge (CWWC). This week I have decided to combine the Which Way Challenge (CWWC) with the Fun Foto Challenge (CFFC).The theme is Any animal in your which way Viewed from Above (CFFC).  Let’s see the amazing Which Ways y’all can come up with to display Animals in your Which Way as Seen (Viewed) from Above.,

As you are walking/hiking along throughout your day it is amazing all the many different animals you might encounter on your journey if only you look down occasionally. There are so many incredibly interesting animals that you could possibly find along your path that I have elected to run this theme for two weeks.

Here are my entries for this week’s combined CWWC/CFFC challenge.

We spotted this Northern Cardinal when we first departed from our home to begin our adventure …

Northern Cardinal

We walked down the road towards Goat Island Park and Greenway where we started hiking along Riverlink Greenway. After hiking merely a short distance along the trail, Coleman spotted several Cricket frogs hopping and jumping. Their jumping style is unique due to the fact that they perform a series of jumps and “belly flops” as they move across the water or land (as we observed).

Acris crepitans
Cricket frog

Further down the trail Coleman spotted this little creature, a nymph Threecornered alfalfa hopper. For Coleman he had get closer and look up on the fence railing to get a better view, while I zoomed in looking down upon the little green nymph.

As we kept moving forward Coleman noticed this small Land Snail crawling across the trail …

On this hiking adventure we observed a wide variety of animals; small ones, medium sized ones, and a wee bit bigger ones. This next one seemed to have seen better days. As this Worm might be great as fishing bait on a previous day, he would not catch much with his lack of viability on this day.

2025 Which Way Challenge (CWWC): Any Which Way with CFFC/CWWC Highways, Structures and/or Highway Signs

Good day! I trust everyone has had a wonderful week so far. Welcome back to another Which Way Challenge (CWWC). This week I have decided to combine the Which Way Challenge (CWWC) with the Fun Foto Challenge (CFFC). The theme is Any Which Way with (CFFC)/CWWC Highways, Structures and/or Highway Signs. Let’s see the amazing Which Ways y’all can come up with to demonstrate Highways, Highway Structures, and/or Highway Signs.

Here are my entries for this week’s combined CWWC/CFFC challenge.

I deeply appreciate and extend my greatest gratitude for all who have supported and participated in the Which Way (CWWC) Challenge. Be sure to click on the links below to see what others have as their Which Ways.

2025 Which Way Challenge (CWWC): Any Unpaved Road or Pathway

Another week is almost over, you know what that means. It is time for the next Which Way Challenge (CWWC). This week I am combining the Which Way Challenge with Johnbo’s Lens-Artist Challenge #345. John has chosen a theme of My Go to Places which ties into my chosen theme of Any Unpaved Road or Pathway.

Go to Places change from time to time especially whenever our dwelling places change or as we progress through the ages. Our interests may change, our surroundings may change, regardless of how or when changes occur we tend to develop new ideas and locations for our “Go to Places.”

Currently, my “Go to Places” depends on Coleman’s interests and selection of the day. Whenever we go hiking we go to one of two Greenways within walking distance from our home. It just so happens that both of these “Go to Places” contain Any Unpaved Roads or Pathways. More often than not Coleman prefers to hike along unpaved nature surface trails or off the beaten pathways out in nature.

Here are our Unpaved Roads and/or PathwaysColeman leads the way to one of his favourite “Go to Places.”

2025 Which Way Challenge (CWWC): February Week 2 — Which way with the colors of brown or black

I’m combining this week’s CWWC with Dan’s CFFC Black and…? — CFFC. For the Which Way Challenge I have selected Any Which Way with the Colours Brown &/or Black. To me, this ties in nicely with Dan’s Black and ? Challenge for this week. Let’s have fun and see what we can all achieve together.

Here are my entries for this week’s challenge:

These were taken back in February of 2023 when Coleman and I convinced my daughter and granddaughter to Tag-along on one of our hiking adventures. For this hike, we chose to visit the Baxter Village Trail which begins near the Library in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Hiking along on the trail we encounter plenty of Brown and a bit of Black as well as some other colours.

The Baxter Village Trail is a part of the Carolina Thread Trail network of trails within North and South Carolina. It is also a part of a 9-mile network of trails within the Baxter Village Community. This particular trail is a 3.3-mile segment of the Thread Trail trail is moderately hilly and features several streams along its length.

Baxter Trail Map

The trail consisted of natural surfaces, boardwalks, and some pavement. The rating for the trail is moderate, but for Coleman and I it was rather easy. As you can see we wound through a forest of trees and through tunnel and for my grandchildren over the tunnel as well.

2025 Which Way Challenge (CWWC): January Week 5 — Any Which Way (Your Choice)

CWWC

Welcome back to the Which Way Challenge (CWWC), I’m so glad you are enjoying this challenge. For this week I have decided to let it be your choice, Any Which Way. Just be sure your Which Ways are clearly defined. Remember signs are always welcome in your Which Ways.

My Which Way selections for this week are my grandson, Coleman’s choices for how prefers his Which Ways. They include dirt trails, bridges, and even trees.

Here we are hiking at Anne Springs Close Greenway beginning on North Steele Creek Trail and crossing onto the Blue Star Trail.

We parked at the Dairy Barn Entrance down almost to the Spillway, then ventured onto North Steele Creek Trail for our hiking adventures of the day. After our fill of hiking we eventually wound our hiking around and back up to the Dairy Barn parking lot to go back home.

To learn more about Anne Springs Close Greenway and what all it has to offer click here.

I am grateful for those who shared there Which Ways last week. To view their Which Ways clink on their links below:

2025 Which Way Challenge (CWWC): January Week 3 —Any which way with people in it

Welcome to the third Which Way Challenge for 2025. This week I have chosen a theme of Any Which Way with People in it. It can be where you capture people unaware as your out and about on the road, path, or trail. As always, signs are welcome in your Which Ways.

Here are my Which Ways for this week:

Coleman and I went hiking along the Disc Golf Trail at Goat Island Park and Greenway before the freezing cold weather it our area. The Disc Golf Trail is a natural dirt trail, mostly smooth with some tree roots and lots of leaves this time of the year.

Coleman on the trail

Coleman loves to lead the way and is often ahead of me. I allow some lead way as long as he’s in my line of sight.

Looking across the river at another trail, we spot a small group of visitors checking out the fishing access.

Moving along the way we came across several of the disc catchers. This is number 10 of 20 along the trail course.

While hiking along the trail Coleman spots a downed tree and decided to climb up And investigate. He hence Pulls Up a Seat waiting for me to catch up.

Crossing over onto another section of the trail we encounter a man jogging through the trail.

A Lone Jogger

Continuing on our hike we try to maneuver around to reach the bridge.

towards the Bridge

We managed to reach the bridge and were able to venture on towards where we began.

As we near the end of the bridge heading back to the entrance, we see a family approaching our way. One of the little girls is attempting to ride her bike up the hill.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my Which Ways with people. I am linking this up with XingfuMama’s Pull Up a Seat.

2025 Which Way Challenge (CWWC)

Cee’s Which Way Challenge

Welcome back to the Which Way Challenge … this week’s challenge is CWWC: Roads with any signs. For further information about the Which Way Challenge check out the new Which Way Challenge page here.

Signs can be found on almost any road, dirt road, trail or greenway. When Coleman and I go hiking we usually see a sign or two. It doesn’t matter if we are walking through town or hiking along a trail or greenway, signs help guide the way or possibly warn of danger. No matter the sign or location one can gather pertinent information and notice the different geometric shapes the signs represent.

Here are my entries for this week …

2024 Which Way Challenge (CWWC): Any Dirt roads or dirt pathways or trails

Cee’s Which Way Challenge

This week’s Which Way Challenge theme is Any Dirt roads or dirt pathways or trails. You may post one or as many as you like, just make sure your Which Way is clearly distinguishable. Remember signs are always welcome.

Here are my Which Ways for this week …

These are leaf covered dirt trails at the Historic Baltimore Fishing Pier location in Cramerton, North Carolina. Coleman and I hiked them, on Christmas Day, to see where they’d take us. Unfortunately, due to unrepaired damage to the trails from Hurricane Helene, parts of the trails are unrestored and nonfunctional at this time.

This Bridge was barricaded declaring it was unsuitable and hazardous rendering it off-limits to hikers/pedestrians.

Many thanks to WoollyMuses, for their Which Ways. You might want to check out their Silver and/or Gold Which Ways.
