2023 CFFC: MasterCard – There are some things money can’t buy…
This is a hard one to decide which photos to choose, there are so many which hold precious memories and special moments that money could never buy. How to decide, that is the question?

These represent happy memories in the beginning. The last photo was taken at my eldest son’s high school graduation & it was the last time we were together as a family. Everything changed from that point on, but I still loved him.

These were taken in February of 2020 when I went on a Royal Caribbean Cruise to Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. I went with my sister-in-law’s sister, Monica, however, she tended to stay in the cabin more than wandering around. I chose to make the most of the trip enjoy myself, which I did. I had a fabulous time on and off the cruise ship.

Monday Portrait: Dinah
Chiweenie
The Chiweenie is a mixed breed dog; a cross between a chihuahua and a dachshund. These types of dogs are compact, energetic and loyal. My eldest son has had Dinah since she was a puppy approximately around 2012.
Chiweenie’s go by several other names, some of which include Choxie, Weeniehuahua, the German Taco, and the Mexican Hot Dog. These other names I had never heard previously referred to the mixture. They make excellent apartment dog, however, they are better suited for small or single-person households. They are an affectionate and friendly breed. It is said that this breed can be rather happy, but I have not ever experienced that trait with Dinah.

Throwback Thursday: American Alligator Swimming at the Zoo
This is a throwback photo from January 2018 taken on a visit to the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden in Columbia, South Carolina.
The Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is a 170-acre zoo, aquarium, and botanical garden located along the Saluda River in Columbia, South Carolina, United States. Riverbanks is home to more than 3,000 animals that represent over 400 species around the world.
The Zoo first opened its gates to the public on April 25, 1974. It has continued to be a popular destination to connect and learn about wildlife life for individuals, families, and groups. It is considered one of the largest mid-sized zoos in the United States. It draws an estimated one million visitors annually.

I took Coleman to Lineberger Park where there is a Splash Pad known as Splayground. I believe he had tons of fun. He thoroughly enjoyed himself and wished he could have stayed longer.

Weekend Sky #110: Tired of Rainy Days
These are just a sampling of what the weather has been like in my area. Storm after storm after storm keeps thundering down upon us. It might start out sunny in the mornings, but then by nightfall it is pouring down with thunderous rain again. At other times our mornings could start out with dark cloudy skies full of raindrops falling down our way. Sometimes it rains all day and then other times it will clear up during the afternoon only to have thunder showers again during the evening hours.
So to say I am tired of having rainy days is no small feat. I think we have had more rain this summer than any other summer in at least the last five years; ( note: my opinion only). I just wish with all this rainfall that our creek would rise, our spillways would be overflowing, and our lakes and rivers would rise. At this time period, our creeks are dry in a lot of areas, are lakes, rivers, and streams are down. Our spillways are not flowing; I love to see the spillways overflowing. Henceforth, even though I am tired of the rainy days I know and understand we need the rain.

2023 RDP: Wednesday August 9 – Cat
It just seems fitting that the Prompt for Wednesday is Cat. Coleman and I went to The Schiele Museum of Natural History and then across the road to the Gaston County Library. While we we walking around The Farm at the Museum I spotted a cat 🐈 roaming around behind the chicken coop.
Normally cats are not the type of animals one sees in The Farm. Goats 🐐, Sheep 🐑, Chickens 🐓, Rabbits, and Turkeys 🦃 are the farm animals that are kept and cared for here. Cats 🐈, however, are not what’s cared for here.
Evidently, this cat 🐈 thought it belonged roaming around at The Farm. Therefore, I snapped a few photos of it. Then, I read what the Prompt was and knew that it was fate that I spotted the cat 🐈 yesterday.

Have you ever seen an Eumorpha pandorus? I had not seen one before today. Do you know what it is? I did not when I first saw it as I looked through my kitchen window. Usually I only see the pesky flies I posted for Denzil’s Nature Photo Challenge – Denzil Nature #23-Flies.

The Pandora sphinx moth (Eumorpha pandorus), also called the pandorus sphinx moth, is a North American moth in the family Sphingidae. It is a large, greenish gray moth with darker patches and pink edges and small pink eyespots. The underside is usually pale yellow-green or brown. It has a wingspan of 3¼–4½ inches (8.2–11.5 cm), females being slightly larger than males. Pandora sphinx moths fly during dusk. This Pandora sphinx moth was very different than other moths I’ve seen hanging around and definitely not one of the pesky flies that can be annoying.
Adult moths fly at dusk. Like other Sphingidae, adult pandora sphinx moths have a long proboscis that is used to feed on nectar.
The species is widespread in the east, the southeast and the center of North America, from Nova Scotia and Ontario to Florida and eastern Texas. It is not present in Mexico or the American Southwest. Wikipedia
What do you think about my new visitor? I that it was interesting. Since I did not previously know what it was I had to look it up. Being new to me I thought I’d share it with all of you, my friends. The Eumorpha pandorus decided to hand around all day and last I checked was still hanging around.
