1. Do you like having your photograph taken?
No, I do not like to have my photograph taken. Nowadays, I prefer to be behind the camera and not in front of it.
2. Did you have a school photograph taken every year?
When I was growing up school pictures were taken every year. My dad saved them all in a photo album which I now possess.
3. Do you take photographs using a phone or stand alone camera?
On quick or last minute trips, I use my phone to take photos. If the outing is planned in advance, I prefer to use my Canon camera even though I tend to use both on Coleman and my hiking adventures.
4. Are you any good at taking photographs?
I wouldn’t say I am really good, but then again I wouldn’t say I am really bad either. I will say I am an amateur photographer who happens to get lucky and have some amazing photos at times.

While visiting the horses on an outing to the Greenway, it seemed like this particular horse was posing for us showing us every possible angle.

Almost all the horses stabled at the Greenway are privately owned and cared for by their owners. If asked a lot of the owners will allow you to gently pet the horse.

I found it fascinating how the horse would first turn one way and then another as if showing off all of its beautiful features.

Longing for times of bygone days, remembering the good times, the friendships made, the experiences I’ve had over the years are memories I treasure forever.

Longing for road trips, traveling to the mountains, beaches, and favourite places; recalling some of my favourite things.
Showcased in the above gallery are images of a rode trip where my eldest son and I drove through part of the Blue Ridge Parkway stopping at various mileposts to catch a glimpse of the magnificent views. A short distance from a section of the BlueRidge Parkway is where my maternal ancestors lived which emphasizes the significance and importance this area is to my heart.

Memories of bygone days are ones I’ll always cherish, but not all would be worth repeating. Memories of friendships that have stood the test of time are ones worth treasuring.
The above images are a small depiction of bygone days of wonderful events I miss from my childhood. Events of bygone days are lovely to remember, but learning from them and looking forward is extremely essential.

What is a StoryWalk? I’ve seen signs like these along other trails in other Greenways, however, I was not previously aware that they were apart of what is considered a StoryWalk.
A StoryWalk is an interactive activity that combines reading with physical activity by displaying pages from a children’s book along a trail.
Using pages from a deconstructed children’s book, a story is displayed along trails or walking paths on poster boards, attached to fences, or encased in outdoor frames. Pages are laminated, attached to signs or podium-style boxes and are accompanied by activity prompts and questions encouraging people to walk to find the next page.
StoryWalks are a fun and innovative tool to engage young readers and encourage activities that build early literacy skills like reading, writing, talking, singing, and playing.
The Cramerton StoryWalk is a permanent installation located along the Goat Island Greenway.
It featuring pages from a children’s picture book displayed on posts and combines reading with outdoor activity for families.
The installation of the StoryWalkwas made possible through a grant from the Gaston Association of Realtors.
The StoryWalk concept was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont, and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.

As scene on our hike at Goat Island Park and Greenway. The Eastern Cottonwood stood out tall and strong amongst the surrounding trees along the trail.

The Eastern Cottonwood is native throughout the Eastern, Central, and South Western United States of America. It also can be found in the Southern Canadian prairies, the southernmost part of eastern Canada, and northeastern Mexico.
The Populus deltoides (Eastern Cottonwood) is a large tree which grows to 20-30 metres (65-100 feet) in height with a trunk up to 2.8 metres (9 ft 2 in) in diameter. It is one of the largest North American Hardwood trees. Its bark is silvery-white, smooth or lightly fissured when young, becoming dark gray and deeply fissured on old trees.

Sedums are large flowering plants in the Crassulaceae family, known as Stonecrops. They a leaf succulents found primarily in the Northern Hemisphere, but also extend into the Southern Hemisphere in Africa and South America.

These Sedum Stonecrops are grown in a rectangular container planter outside of Confluence in downtown Cramerton, North Carolina.

The main Summer Funtime this summer that was different than most any other time were the Summer Concerts the Town of Cramerton held at the end of each month. Nighttime is not a time when I venture out anywhere, my vision no longer allows me to see clearly to drive or walk any distance. Hence, I ventured back through time in my archives to a time when I was out at night (after dark).
The images I have chosen are from one extremely weary day back in January of 2019. It was a sad and weary time for traveling. These were taken at the Mississippi Welcome Center where my daughter and I stopped to rest and stretch our legs before heading back home from our trip to Plano, Texas.
