Yesterday, I shared some unique benches inside Amber Jack Seafood & Steak Restaurant. Today, I am letting you have a glimpse of the Windows we viewed from our table.
I loved seeing the reflections in the window from across the room.
This is a vertical window reflecting what was showing on the TV screen in another portion of the room.
Interesting Displays in the foyer of the restaurant.

We have had a few weeks of freezing weather producing Ice and Snow storms with little sight of the Sun.
Sunrise 7:21am
So far when the Sun has tried to peeked through the rain clouds have covered it up.
Hopefully the Sun will bring a little warmth to our area. However, even though 45°F is warmer than our freezing 9°F lows it is still not what I consider a warm day.

In our neck of the woods, we are in the midst of ongoing back to back winter storms. North of the I-40 usually gets hit with Snow ❄️during the winter months, but south of the I-40 rarely receives more than a sprinkling or trace of Snow accumulation on the ground. This year we have been hit with an extreme Winter Ice Storm followed by an extreme Arctic Winter Snow Storm and winter is not over so there is opportunity for chances of more ice, sleet, or snow before the season is over.
This past weekend the Snow was packed on top of the ice that hadn’t had a chance to melt yet. This made the road (the one next to the railroad tracks) an excellent place for some neighborhood fun. Two of the neighbour families had sleds they brought out and invited Coleman to sledding with them. So naturally, I bundled him best I could (he didn’t have any snow pants, overalls, or any kind of snowsuit) and we met the neighbours at the corner by the tracks.
Here are a few examples of the Funtime Coleman enjoyed playing in the Snow ❄️ …

This was Coleman’s very first time to go sledding. (Pull Up a Seat on a Sled) In between runs the boys enjoyed throwing snowballs at the adults and Riley’s older sister. A wonderful good time was had by all.

Eating small quantities of clean, fresh, white snow is generally considered low-risk for the majority of healthy individuals. Be cautious if you choose to eat fresh white snow or snow cream.
I chose to allow Coleman to eat safely obtained fresh white snow following recommended safety guidelines.
Here is a list of Safety Guidelines recommended to follow before Eating Snow.
Prioritize Fresh Snow:
Eat only Snow that has just fallen (it is preferable to wait a few hours after a snowfall begins, after initial air scrubbing.)
Ensure it’s White:
Only eat pristine, white snow. Avoid any snow that is yellow, red, green, gray, or black, as this indicates contamination by urine, algae, or pollutants.
Avoid Ground Contact:
Scoop snow from the top layer or collect it in a clean bowl placed outside as it falls. This is to prevent any and all contact with ground contaminates, dirt, or animal waste.
Avoid Disturbed Areas:
Never ever eat snow from roadsides, driveways, sidewalks, or areas with heavy foot traffic. These areas often have high contaminations of chemicals and pollutants.
I assure you we collect fresh snow from a clean container we placed outside long past when the snowfall had begun (especially considering it began when we were still sleeping).
What a difference a year makes in our view, weather, and our activities.

This time last year Coleman were hiking in Goat Island Park and Greenway. He was playing in the playground having a wonderful good time. Our high was 54°F, not too hot but also not extremely cold either. Our low was 32°F during a time when we were home. What was this time last year like you y’all?

This year we are having an extremely cold winter storm with a mixture of Snow and Sleet alternating off and on all day and night. Our high today was 21°F below normal with a freezing temperature of 29°F and a feel like temperature of 14°F. [I don’t know about y’all, but to me, that is extremely freezing cold.] Our low was 17°F with a feel like of 2°F.
Coleman doesn’t like being cooped up inside any time of the day. He is a hyperactive person who prefers to be out in nature. With today’s extreme cold temperatures and dangerous weather conditions he has had to find other options to keep himself occupied and entertained. Luckily, he has several options to play with like his new Hot Wheels City play-sets and additional orange track.

What’s it like for y’all in your area right now? Are you experiencing extreme cold winter conditions? Or are you experiencing the hot summer days?
Oops, sorry forgot to be silent. Forgive me for being vocal, I’ll remember it’s a Silent Sunday next week.

This week we have been inundated with below freezing temperatures and extreme winter weather inhibiting our ability (too cold for us to go walking about outside) to adventure on an enjoyably beautiful hike. (Sorry, not sorry, below 20° or slightly above with the feel like temperatures even lower is not my cup of tea). These are from what we saw from Winter Storm Fern …

Looking through my photos for Dan’s Sturdy or ShakyI have found a few I’m sharing with y’all today.
From 2022 …
Coleman, at almost 3, walking on the Shaky Swinging Bridge as if it were Sturdy and not Shaky.

Now for two (2) from 2025 …

First off, Happy 2026 Everyone! Did you stay awake to bring in the New Year? Did you watch any Fireworks? My daughter and I somehow managed to barely stay awake till midnight to see the New Year arrive. The only fireworks we say were those on the television as the annual ball dropped from New York. We did hear them in our location prior to midnight, but did not venture out anywhere in the chilly night air to watch them being shot off over the ocean.
Here are my contributions … These are a continuation of Cramerton’s Christmas Parade.

This Christmas was the very first Christmas for Sophia Ruthann Wilson; she entered into our family on December 9, 2025 at 2:47 am. Coleman is a proud big brother as can be seen from some of the photos.
Here are a “few” shots I captured to remember her First Christmas … (Sharing with my daughter’s permission).

Skywatching at Goat Island Park and Greenway … The sky was beautiful and captivating amazingly drawing attention to the Creator of all that is, was, and will be.
These Bald Cypress trees are resilient and have the ability to grow in very wet conditions, even standing in water. These are grown near the South Fork Catawba River in Riverside Park and Greenway.
The Cypress cones are the reproductive structures of Cypress trees that develop from the tree’s flowers. What you see here are the female cones, often called seed cones. The little red droplet on the bottom cone looks like resin which is characteristic from a cypress tree.
The Cluster of Bald Cypress cones you see is a perfect example of an infructescence. These cones are actually modified seed cones, and once they mature, they’ll release seeds. It’s interesting to learn how plants develop these unique structures to disperse their seeds. The mature cones contain seeds that are a very important food source for local wildlife, including squirrels, waterfowl, and other birds.

This year our neighborhood is not adorned with very many Christmas Lights or Festive Decorations. I did, however, manage to capture a few Christmas Lights and decorations within our walking pathways.
Dan, the host for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge is asking us to share photos of Winter, Summer or Both. Lately our weather has been so cold and extremely windy that it feels like winter. Yesterday morning our low was down to 14°, which for me, extremely freezing weather with the wind chill making it feel even colder. Our lowest temperatures of the day are when I need to wait with Coleman at the school bus stop. His bus always runs late, so I am always chilled to the bone by the time I get back to the house.
Enough talk about our current “Wintry” weather conditions and let’s move on to showing you some images from last Winter.

God Bless. Take time to admire Nature’s beautiful bounty. Have a great weekend. Thank you for visiting and sharing your time and thoughts with us. I appreciate y’all very much.
Last evening our Town of Cramerton held its annual Christmas parade which we were able to enjoy as a family. The Town came out in droves to watch the Parade with the many cars, floats, marching bands, and cheer squads. Parades are fascinating and exciting for the children and adults alike to watch and anticipate. I bet you can guess which part of the parade everyone likes to see the most (especially the children). Yep, you guessed (I least I believe y’all did). Santa Claus arrival at the end of the parade on a shiny red fire engine (at least in our town that’s what he arrives on).
After the Parade is over the children and their families gather at Confluence to await once again for Santa’s arrival. Why do the children excitedly wait with anticipation for Santa at Confluence? Well, of course it for the opportunity to be photographed with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Here are a few shots of Coleman with Santa … more will come later when the Catawba Riverkeepers Foundation sends the link for our free photos. Until then you’ll need to. E satisfied with the ones I captured.
Santa & Mrs. Claus
Uh oh, it seems like Coleman’s not sure where to sit.
Alright, this spot might just be fine.
Where am I supposed to look?
Hey Gramdma, should I be looking at you or the camera?
Grandma, did you get my picture all right? Am I done now?
