2025 OWS: Steering Wheels

Good Sunday Morning to y’all. This week Debbie from Travel with Intent has chosen Steering Wheels for the theme for One Word Sunday (OWS). I’ve scoured my archives searching for a few Steering Wheels and I’ve managed come come across a few.

Here are my entries …

2025 OWS: 17 August — Litter

Leave No Trace

Leave No Trace means to carry out what you bring in to nature. Minimize your impact on natural environments. Leave an area as pristine as possible (even better than you found it). The idea is to ensure that the next visitor would barely know anyone else had been there.

Not everyone practises Leave No Trace as is recommended. Too often when we go hiking on various trails, regardless of whether the trails are in Greenways, Local, State, or National Parks, people will leave Litter by the side of trails, amongst the trees, and around campsites.

2023 OWS: Various Angles around the Grist Mill

Walking along the Schiele Museum’s Natural Trail we strolled along the pathway heading towards the Grist Mill …

Paying attention to the various angles on the different objects surrounding the Grist Mill …

Noticing the angles of the steps leading down to the water stream…

And for the first time we spotted the bird feeder … the angles on the shelf, the roof, and the angles formed by the trees.

Serra Cross (Padre Cross)
Presidio Park
Old Town San Diego State Historic Park
San Diego, California, USA

This cross is a monument to Father Junípero Serra and the first Spanish colonists to the region. It is located on the grounds just below the Junípero Serra Museum. The Serra Cross (also known as Padre Cross) is one of San Diego’s most prominent landmarks. It was built in 1913 with tiles excavated from the original Presidio and mission.

The Junípero Serra Museum and the Serra Cross is an area I visited many times during my youth. It is an historical landmark I visited during a school field trip. It is also an area where my church youth group would hold activities at Presidio Park (as it was referred to way back when. The mission and the Cross maintains a significant part in my heart and memories.

2023 OWS: Distant Airplanes ✈️

One of Coleman’s favorite things to do is watch for airplanes ✈️ flying overhead. It’s thrilling for him to see the airplanes ✈️ and even more so to watch two airplanes ✈️ passing each other in the beautiful blue sky above us as we gaze off into the distance.

2023 OWS: 22 October – Shapes

We see shapes of every kind everywhere we walk/hike. Shapes are all around us if we just stop and take notice. Shapes are in everyday items, around playgrounds, in toys children play with, in decorations & even in various sculptures around our neighborhood a, our cities, states, and around the globe. Take time to notice the world around us and see what shapes you might notice.

Around the town, across the country, or across the World we are essentially the same. We may have differences in some areas, but in other ways we are basically similar.

In memory of Bren: Flowers For a Beautiful Lady

Like many others I was saddened to hear of Bren’s passing. I couldn’t just pick one flower. Bren loved photographing flowers so much and she loved life. I didn’t know her very long, but still I called her my friend. She liked my posts, made encouraging comments, and I enjoyed participating in her challenges. She was always kind, compassionate, and supportive.

In Memory Of Bren Brashley

I hope you understand one flower was just not sufficient. It took me awhile to be able to write this post. The day I found out about Bren was the anniversary of my husband’s passing from Cancer. Even though the news made me feel sad inside, i know she’ll live on in are heart’s and memories forever.

Her images of flowers were exquisite and inspirational.

My dad always enjoyed attending car shows. He worked for Pearson Ford for over 35 years. He would watch NASCAR races whenever my mom wasn’t watching other sporting events. All of my dad’s life, he owned nothing but FORD cars. Growing up we all went to the cars shows together. My very first car I own was one my family owned. It was a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 White 2 Door Select-a-Shift with Blue interior. I’ve never owned another car like it again. It was a great car that lasted me for a good 20 years.
