“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen”
Matthew 28:20 (KJV)
In the book of Matthew, in the Bible, Matthew quotes Jesus speaking to his disciples. Jesus is instructing them to teach others everything he has taught them. He is also letting them (and us) know that He is Always with them (us, me and you).

Do you ever feel like you are all alone? Feeling alone doesn’t necessarily mean you are physically all by yourself. Sometimes a person can feel like they are all alone even when they are surrounded by friends and family.
In this passage, Jesus is reminding us that He is and always will be with us. He is letting us know we do not need to be afraid. No matter what we are going through, He is with us to help us through life’s struggles.
God tells us over and over again throughout the Bible that He is always with us and that Jesus will never ever leave us. Below are a few more verses stating this fact, “I am with you always.”
“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”
Isaiah 43:2 (NLT)

“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 (NASB)

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Psalm 23:4 (ESV)

When you think or feel like you are all alone, Remember God is always with you. Turn to Him. Tell Him your troubles and He will see you through them. He is always there, waiting for you to reach out to Him. He is always willing and able to help you no matter the circumstances. Do not ever think He is not there for you. God loves you!
God Bless. Thank you! Remember Jesus loves you. I appreciate y’all.

I think this is my favorite photo from today’s hike. Captured with my iPhone 13 Pro Wide Camera — 26mm f1.5.
God Bless. Thank you for visiting. I appreciate y’all.
I have an older Canon Rebel T3i that I was using on Saturday when I went to the Greenway with my grandson, Coleman. My battery is weak, even though it was fully charged before leaving home, it did not last very long. So, it seems like it is time for a new battery (I cannot afford a new camera right now).
These pictures were taken after we came to Lake Frances after hiking at the beginning of Archers Loop at the Adventure Road entrance of the Anne Springs Close Greenway.

God Bless. Thank you! I haven’t used the camera for a little while, it’s been packed away and I recently unpacked it. I hope you’ll enjoy the photos. I appreciate y’all.

Music has been around practically since the beginning of time, or at least it seems that way. It is thought to have been around for approximately 40,000 years. Music 🎶 is the art of arranging sound.

“Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy. Music is the electrical soil in which the spirit lives , thinks, and invents.”
— Ludwig van Beethoven

“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent.”
—- Victor Hugo

“My heart, which is so full to overflowing, has often been solaced and refreshed by music when sick and weary.”
— Martin Luther
“Music is well said to be the speech of angels; in fact, nothing among the utterances allowed to man is felt to be so divine. It brings us near to the infinite.”
— Thomas Carlyle

“When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. I am related to the earliest times, and to the latest.”
— Henry David Thoreau
“Music can change the world because it can change people.”
— Bono

“Music… will help dissolve your perplexities and purify your character and sensibilities, and in time of care and sorrow, will keep a fountain of joy alive in you.”
— Dietrich Bonhoeffer, German Lutheran pastor, theologian, and anti-Nazi dissident.
“I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture you’re from, everyone loves music.”

Thank you for the music, the joy and laughter it brings. Thank you for the music and it’s healing power it departs. Thank you for giving me music, songs to sing 🎶 and dance.

God Bless. Hear the music. Let it bring joy and healing ❤️🩹 to your heart ❤️. Thank you! I appreciate y’all.

Today my hiking 🥾 buddy, Coleman, and I drove to the Adventure Road Entrance of The Anne Springs Close Greenway. We parked near the doggy park, Mary Warner Mack Dog Park, and proceeded on Archers Loop which begins to the side and behind the dog 🐕 park.

At various points along the trail are markers letting you know which trail you are on and at which point along the trail.

Coleman had a fun time hiking 🥾 and running 🏃♂️ along the trail.

Coleman discovered the outdoor learning classroom.

God bless. Thank you! Numbers are everywhere, you just have to be observant. Remember I appreciate y’all.
A legendary entertainer, born Frances Ethel Gumm, Judy Garland has wowed us with her vaudeville, acting, and singing for generations past her death. The most notable, in my opinion, was how she captured the audience with her acting and singing in “The Wizard of Oz.” She also left us with many quotes that still inspire numerous people to this day and most likely for generations to come.
The following quotes by Judy Garland are a few of the ones I really like and find inspiring to me. I hope you will enjoy them as well.
“Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.”
Judy Garland

“Wouldn’t it be wonderful; if we could all be a little more gentle with each other, and a little more loving, have a little more empathy, and maybe we’d like each other a little bit more.”
Judy Garland

“I don’t always have to sing a song… There’s a woman. There are three children. There’s me! There’s a lot of life going here.”
Judy Garland
“I wanted to stay like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. Life wasn’t as complicated then. But I can’t help growing up. No one can. Time won’t stop and life won’t stand still.”
Judy Garland
“The greatest treasures are those invisible to the eye but found by the heart.”
Judy Garland

“I can live without money, but I cannot live without love.”
Judy Garland

“As for my feelings toward ‘Over the Rainbow,’ it’s become part of my life. It is so symbolic of all my dreams and wishes that I’m sure that’s why people sometimes get tears in their eyes when they hear it.”
Judy Garland

“For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart, it was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.”
Judy Garland

“Not many of us have the names or identities we were born with. I don’t associate Frances Gumm with me. I, Judy Garland, was born when I was 12 years old.”
Judy Garland
“Somewhere over the rainbow; Skies are blue. And the dreams that you dare to dream Really do come true.”
Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz

God Bless. Thank you. Always be the best version of you you can be. Remember I appreciate y’all.

“Thy Word is a Lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
Whether you are walking around trying to find your way or hiking a long trail like the Appalachian Trial or even a local trail, or just your daily life, God is there to guide your way and to show you which direction you need to take. Whenever we allow God to be our Guide, we will always be successful in reaching our destination.
Let’s discuss what is meant by God’s guidance. According to the scriptures found in the Bible, divine guidance means to get advice or help from God. It is seeking supernatural help; we do that by looking and reading the Word of God to gain knowledge regarding what God would have us to do.
“Praise God! For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
Why is God’s guidance so important? It is an important need to allow God to direct our decisions in life. God lets us know through scriptures that it is not wise to trust our own judgements regarding our life decisions. Our ways are not HIs ways and when we take control and make our own decisions without consulting God, our lives become in disarray.
” Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.”
Psalm 32:8-9
God created us not to be lone creatures, but to fellowship with him and to look to him for guidance. God is longing for us to seek Him. to let Him guide us through all the twists and turns in our lives. He wants to lead me and you to a life full of joy, peace, a greater purpose than we could ever imagine obtaining on our own.
“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with His hand.”
Psalm 37:23-24 (NIV)

“Your own ears will hear a word behind you saying, ‘This is the way, Walk in it,’ in case you should go to the right or in case you should go to the left.”
Isaiah 30:21 (NWT)

“Teach ME your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.”
Psalms 86:11

“Show me your ways, O LORD; Teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, For you are the God of my salvation; On you I wait all the day.”
Psalm 25:4-5

How does God guide us? God guides us through the Bible and the Holy Spirit’s promptings, He helps us through other people and also guides us through our ability to think. How can we access God’s divine guidance? We are able to access HIs guidance through prayer and fasting. He shows us the way to go through the act of prayer and through His Holy Scriptures.
“I run in the path of Your commands, for You have set my heart Free.”
Psalm 119:32

“You have made known to me the Paths of Life; you will fill me with joy in your Presence.”
Acts 2:28

“Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in HIs ways.”
Psalm 128:1 (KJV)

O Lord, my God, help me to trust you with my decisions and my future. Help me to lean on you with all my heart instead of relying on my own imperfect understanding. Give me clear guidance in my life, O Lord.
God Bless. Remember to seek God and His infinite Wisdom for guidance in your daily lives. I promise you; your will not regret it. Thank you. I appreciate y’all.

These are from a visit to Cane Creek Park in Waxhaw, North Carolina with my granddaughter four years ago today in 2018. Trust you’ll enjoy. God Bless. Remember I appreciate y’all.

It appears my grandson is in his “terrible two’s” phase. I sure wish it would end soon, but in all likelihood it is only the beginning.
You may wonder what the terrible two’s are, but if you’re a mom you’re fully aware of the terrible two’s. With some children you might hardly notice the phase and with others, like my grandson, you feel so frustrated you’d pull your hair out trying to cope.
What are the terrible two’s? Believe it or not the “terrible two’s” is a normal stage in a child’s development. It is a stage in which a toddler can regularly bounce between reliance on adults and a newly burgeoning desire for independence. The symptoms vary between children but can include frequent mood changes and temper tantrums.
Why do I think my grandson is in the “terrible two’s”? Take a look at the following picture and it’ll give you a small glimpse into his actions of late.

And this isn’t everything he’s been getting into or doing lately. So just yesterday he managed to also get into everything in his mom’s room, spread them all over the place which included her tampons and drinking a small portion of a small bottle of mouthwash. Not only that but he also got a hold of an electric razor and shaved part of the dogs hair off.
What are the signs to look for of the “terrible two’s”?
The terrible two’s can sometimes roll into the terrible three’s. By the time a child reaches 4, they can usually express themselves through language and motor development.
Remember not all children are the same. Some will barely show signs of the terrible two’s while others may show more than the average. Children are trying to develop a sense of themselves and a bit of independence. Keeping to a schedule and maintaining routines can assist in avoiding meltdown triggers. Examples would include sticking the the same meal and bed times. It also helps to focus your attention on the child and not cellphones.

How do I know my grandson is in the “terrible two’s”? The changes in his behavior clearly indicate it. How might you ask? His defiance, talking back, constantly saying no, hitting and/or biting himself or others. In his curiosity, he destroys items he is not even supposed to have. He gets into rooms he is not to be in without permission to explore. I know he is curious (like Curious George), but constantly redirecting gets frustrating. He will mimic anything I do, and he will stop his feet at me when he doesn’t get his way.

I try not to get frustrated and yell, but sometimes it’s difficult when I keep correcting or redirecting the same unwanted behavior. I don’t remember it being this frustrating with any of my three (now grown) children. I know his vocabulary is still limited and it’s not easy for him to communicate what he wants, but I also want him to learn what is acceptable and what is not.
Prayers 🙏🏼 would be very much appreciated. I need to be more patient, showing him my love and using kindness in my interactions with him. He is my heart ❤️ and I love him so much.

Yesterday, Sunday, 05 June 2022 we decided to try a different trail that I was told about on Saturday whil I was participating in the National Trails Day 1,000 Mile Challenge. The information was given to me by Debbie Zinsky Kiggans, the leader of the Anne Springs Close Greenway Hiking Club. She informed me about the Masons Ben Trail located in the Fort Mill area of South Carolina.
Following directions, we found the parking area to the Founders Trailhead, however, we did not locate the Masons Bend Trail. Afterwards, I looked at the trail map and it appears we did not hike far enough to venture off onto the Masons Bend Trail which appears to be a jaunt off of the Founders Trail.

The Founders Trail is a 2.3-mile mostly natural surface trail provides connectivity between the Piedmont Medical Center Trail, (AKA Riverwalk), and the Masons Bend Trail. It follows a beautiful stretch of the free flowing Catawba River.

From the North, users can utilize the trail parking at the end of Weir Court in the Masons Bend Neighborhood development. When you follow the trail southward, the trail runs along the River and provides a series of bridges and boardwalks. In various locations along the trail are strategically placed benches which allow hikers and other visitors to take a break and view the river. There is an overlook at the north end of the trail affording opportunities to be inspired by the marvelous views of the Catawba River. [We evidently did not go far enough along the trail, since we did not encounter the overlook.] The overlook area is stated to be around 1.9 miles into the trail. [We went 1.7 miles today before turning around to meet my daughter who just arrived at the trailhead.]

If one chooses to head north on the Founders Trail, it will connect directly into the Masons Bend Trail allowing the user to travel an additional one and a quarter mile along the river.

If one chooses to begin at the south end, trail users can utilize the trailhead of the Piedmont Medical Center Trail. Follow the trail north on Route 21. from there, the Founders Trail begins as a sidewalk along the Route 21 Bridge over the Catawba River. The sidewalk section runs for approximately 2000′ and transitions by making a “U-turn” to the right just after the guardrails and follows the old road back and travels underneath the Route 21 Bridge.

The Founders Trail consists of Natural surface, Gravel/stone, Boardwalk, Sidewalk, and Pavement. [ we never encountered the sidewalk or pavement on this hike.] The Trail is located both in the Rock Hill and the Fort Mill areas of South Carolina. The difficulty level of the Trail is designated as easy. [It was fairly easy for my two-year-old grandson.] Dogs are permitted on the trail with a 3-foot leash. If you choose to bring your dog, be sure to pick up after them. Remember to Leave No Trace, what you pack in, Pack out with you.

The Founders Trailhead has no restroom facilities, so it would be wise to plan ahead. The Trail is open from Dawn to Dusk. Parking is limited, only 15 spots available. [Parking was not crowded, and neither was the trail. So, if you which to practice social distancing that is not a problem along this trail.

I encourage you to find a local trail and get outdoors and enjoy nature. God bless. Thank you for visiting. Till next time, Remember I appreciate y’all.
“However orderly your excursions or aimless, again and again amid the calmest, stillest scenery you will be brought to a standstill hushed and awe-stricken before phenomena wholly new to you.”
—- Naturalist John Muir, writing about Yellowstone National Park in 1889

“Within National Parks is room — glorious room — room in which to find ourselves, in which to think and hope, to dream and plan, to rest and resolve.”
— Enos Mills (1870-1922),
American naturalist,
author and primary creator
of Rocky Mountain National Park

“A sort of national property, in which every man has a right and interest who has an eye to perceive and a heart to enjoy.”
— William Wordsworth, writing of the concept of a national park in the Lake District in “A guide through the district of the lakes in the north of England,” 1835

“There is nothing so American as our national parks… The fundamental idea behind the parks… is that the country belongs to the people, that it is in process of making for the enrichment of the lives of all of us.”
— President Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1934

“National parks and reserves are an integral aspect of intelligent use of natural resources. It is the course of wisdom to set aside an ample portion of our natural resources as national parks and reserves, thus ensuring that future generations may know the majesty of the earth as we know it today.”
— President John F. Kennedy,
World Conference
on National Parks, 1962

Our National Parks have long been a source of inspiration. Many famous people have commented about their marvelous beauty and the importance they have to the American people. I encourage you to make the time to visit our many National Parks. There’s probably I within a reasonable distance to your home. The United States alone has 63 national parks. These national parks are Congressionally-designated protected areas operated by the National Park Service, an agency of the Department of the Interior. National Parks are designated for their natural beauty, unique geological features, diverse ecosystems, and recreational opportunities.

God bless. Thank you! Remember I appreciate y’all.

Today, Saturday June 4, 2022, is National Trails Day. National Trails Day is recognized to be the first Saturday in June. The day recognizes all the wonderfully incredible benefits the federal, state, and local trails provide for our recreation and exposure to God’s beautiful nature. In the United States, events are held nationwide to help and promote awareness for the numerous varieties of services the trail systems offer. The day encourages people from all walks of life to discover their local trails, become active concerning trail issues, and share their excitement for the outdoors.

On National Trails Day many people think first and foremost of hiking, however, trails offer so much more than just hiking. The trails provide access to various waterways for canoeing, kayaking, and paddling trips. Trails are also fantastic places which Birders may find excellent opportunities for birdwatching. It is also a great opportunity for those seeking to test their abilities to observe and study geolocation and enjoy geocaching. The trails are also used by cyclists and horseback riders. No matter which activity you choose, each activity pursued creates an opportunity to spend time in the vast outdoors and generate an excellent cardiovascular workout. Trail lengths vary per trail, most of the time I hike with my two-year-old grandson, so I tend to hike between 1.5 – 2.5 miles one way. When he is not with me, I might hike between 5-8 miles in a day.

Besides the tremendous opportunities trails provide us, On National Trails Day take the time to thank the many volunteers, land agencies, trail developers, park employees, and rangers for all they do in helping develop and maintaining the trails.
National Trails Day is sponsored by The American Hiking Society. Take the opportunity to visit your local trails. It is a great opportunity to bring a friend along for some great fellowship. Try something new, you just might be glad you did. Go to a Greenway, national, state, or local park and discover new trails or activities. Be sure to show your appreciation to those that make all the trails systems possible. Always Remember to Leave No Trace, if your pack it in, pack it out. #NationalTrailsDay.
On this National Trails Day I chose to go to my local greenway, Anne Springs Close Greenway, to hike and participate in their 1,000 Mile Challenge. Anne Springs Close Greenway is located in Fort Mill, South Carolina. It has 36 miles within 26 trails that one can choose to hike, mountain bike, or adventure on horseback. This year the Greenway presented a challenge to all its members and the surrounding communities, to log a combined total of 1,000 or more miles of activities for #NationalTrailsDay. Those miles also include those who chose to do their activities on the water using a canoe or kayak.

The last word I received (around 4pm); the Greenway logged over 1,365 miles across the Greenway and still more miles we to be logged in before end of day. Great job for #NationalTrailsDay!
God Bless. Thank you! Remember I appreciate y’all. Visit your local trails. Get outdoors. Enjoy Nature. Thank you, Debbie Zinsky Kiggans, for organizing and leading hikes today for #NationalTrailsDay and all year long.
Photos and collages are mine (c)2022@DebbieLWaters. The Photo of the 1,000 Mile Challenge I borrowed from the Anne Springs Close Greenway’s Facebook page.

God bless. Thank you! I appreciate y’all.
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!
1 John 3:1 (NIV)

Do you know what real love is? True love means that you have an unwavering, unbreakable, and unparalleled fondness and devotion for someone. True love includes respect, admiration, never hurting anyone, and never subjecting anyone to humiliation or abuse. True love involves communication, affection, trust, appreciation, and mutual respect.

The Bible lists the following characteristics for love:

How can we know real true love? Real true Love comes from God, the Father. His love is unlike any love which humans possess. His love is always unconditional and always lasts for an eternity. This kind of Love us known as Agape Love. True Agape Love is a willed Love. It is the highest form of love, charity, and it is the love God has for mankind, and the love man has for God.

Agape Love is selfless and sacrificial. It is mentioned over 200 times in the Bible. God’s love is perfect, unconditional agape love which He has for you, for me, and for the whole world 🌎.
Agape Love is a choice. It doesn’t come out of attraction or obligation. It is the kind of love that Jesus Christ displayed on the cross when He took our place and took upon himself the sun of the World, including yours and mine.

“God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”
1 John 4:16
17 “Therefore My Father lloves Me, mbecause I lay down My life that I may takeit again. 18 No one takes it from Me, but I layit down of Myself. I nhave power to lay itdown, and I have power to take it again. oThis command I have received from MyFather.”
John 10:17-18 (NKJV)

Let the love of God dwell in you. Let Him demonstrate His Unconditional, Unending, selfless sacrificial love to you. God loves you! You are Loved!
God bless. Thank you! Remember I appreciate y’all.

My grandson, Coleman, and I visited the Riverwalk area in Rock Hill, South Carolina for the second time today. We parked by the Pump House and hiked a portion of the Piedmont Medical Center Trail. We hiked at a leisurely pace, enjoying the views of the Catawba River. We took a slight detour off the asphalt pathway and onto a dirt and gravel trail which looped around back to the main pathway. Coleman enjoys hiking off the beaten path. We hiked 1.5 miles along the trail and turned around and went back the direction we came. Several spots along the way, Coleman ventured into the river for some fun time in the water. Once back at the car, we drove a short distance to the Riverwalk Park. There he enjoyed making “music”, swinging, and sliding.
God bless. Hope you enjoyed viewing our day. Make time to get outdoors and enjoy nature. Thank you! Remember I appreciate y’all.

God bless. Thank you! Remember I appreciate y’all.
I’d gladly walk across the desert
With no shoes upon my feet
To share with you the last bite
Of bread I had to eat
I would swim out to save you
In your sea of broken dreams
When all your hopes are sinkin’
Let me show you what love means
Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don’t you think it’s time?
Don’t you think it’s time?
I would whisper love so loudly
Every heart could understand
That love and only love
Can join the tribes of man
I would give my heart’s desire
So that you might see
The first step is to realize
That it all begins with you and me
Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don’t you think it’s time?
Don’t you think it’s time?
When we stand together
It’s our finest hour
We can do anything (anything), anything (anything)
Keep believin’ in the power
Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don’t you think it’s time?
Don’t you think it’s time?
Yeah, yes, I do
Oh, love can build a bridge (oh, love and only love)
Between your heart and mine (between your heart and mine)
Love can build a bridge (love and only love)
Don’t you think it’s time?
Oh, don’t you think it’s time?
Mmm
Don’t you think it’s time?
Love and only love
Hey
Love and only love

The Riverwalk Greenway Trail is located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It is 2.25 miles of easy walking exercise. As you walk along the paved asphalt trail you can observe fabulous views of the Catawba River.

The Riverwalk Trail has been recently renamed the Piedmont Medical Center Trail. The asphalt pathway is approximately 10-foot wide. It is located just minutes away from I-77. This trail is key segment of the Carolina Thread Trail. The Carolina Thread Trail is a regional network of trails and greenways spanning 15 counties across North and South Carolina.

Along the trail you’ll encounter various historical landmarks informing you of some of the local history that is contained within the pathway of the trail. They mention the Nation Ford trestle, the usage during the Civil War, the usage by the Catawba and Cherokee Indians, and was even crossed by President Jefferson Davis in 1865.

Mile markers are placed at intervals along the pathway to help you keep track of how far you have walked, hiked, ran, or cycled. You have to remember that regardless of which trailhead you park at, it is 2.25 miles up and back. If you need a short break to catch your breath along the way you’ll encounter several metal benches, sitting areas made from tree trunks, and also a few swings. My grandson really enjoyed taking breaks anytime he came upon one of the swings.

The trail is accessible to anyone on foot, wheelchair, skateboard, or bicycle of any age and ability. Dogs are welcome to tag along, but must be on a 3-foot leash. And remember you must pick up after your dog. Leave no trace.

Located along the route are short dirt paths that you can venture on to enable you to have better views of the Catawba River. If you so choose from the north trailhead, you can launch a kayak, a tube, or raft and enjoy a leisurely trip down river.

Please note that the trail is located in a floodplain and during inclement weather you should use caution and avoid the trail during those times. All cyclists should observe the 10 mile per hour speed limit.

My grandson and I spent a couple hours leisurely walking along the trail and enjoying the fabulous views of the Catawba River. We went on Friday (1st day of a holiday weekend), and lots of people were out and about. The watering hole was crowded so he couldn’t get in the water, maybe he’ll be able to on another visit. We plan on going back on Wednesday. I’ve been informed that not so many people go there during the middle of the week. If you desire to avoid crowds, I’d suggest coming here on a weekday and avoiding the weekends.
God Bless. Enjoy nature. Get outdoors. Walk. Bike. Hike. Thank you! I appreciate y’all.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.”
Psalm33:12

“We always thank God for all of you, making mention of you constantly in our prayers. We recall, in the presence of our God and Father, your work produced by faith, your labor motivated by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 CSB

“No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends.”
John 15:13 CSB

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.”
2 Timothy 4:7 (NJKV)

Take these scriptures to heart ❤️. Remember those that fought the good fight, gave their lives for our freedom, and honor their faithful service.

God Bless. Remember and Honor the Fallen. Never forget their Sacrifice. Thank you! I appreciate y’all.

On Memorial Day, I/we pause to remember those who served our Nation and sacrificed all to protect the liberties of every American. Because of these brave men and women, I/we go to sleep each night secure – knowing our country is protected by those who are willing to put the preservation of our Nation before their own. Today, surrounded by our own families and the blessings of America, we pause to honor them.
In 1868 May 30th was chosen by General John A. Logan fir the purpose of strewing flowers or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, and churchyard in America. [General JohnA. Logan led an organization for Northern Civil War Veterans.] Even though It was originally set aside specifically for the Civil War, Memorial Day later came to encompass all military casualties during World War I. It became a official federal holiday in 1971. Today we remember and honor all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice from every military War.
Even though, to my knowledge not if my ancestors or others relatives lost their lives in battle I have relatives that were injured in various wars. I know that is not the same. It is with great admiration that I remember and honor all those whose served our country without reservations and made the ultimate sacrifice for my freedom and yours.
Today is not just Memorial Day for my family, it is also my daughter’s thirty-first birthday. So today we honor the fallen and my daughter’s life.
God bless. Thank you! Remember and Honor the Fallen. I appreciate y’all.

God bless. Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate y’all.
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with the whithersoever thou goest.”
Joshua 1:9
Joshua took Moses’ place and led the Israelites into the promised land. He needed to have faith, be strong and have courage to do so. He had to have faith that the Lord would provide a way for the Israelites to cross the Jordan River. Crossing the Jordan River was absolutely necessary in order for them to reach the Promised Land.

Have you ever done something or been faced with a major decision demanded you to have courage? Every day we are faced with situations or decisions that need to be made. A lot of the times those could be difficult to accomplish on our own accord. In those trying times we need to turn to the Lord to give us the wisdom and strength to make the right decisions and to help us manage to overcome strenuous situations.

When the Israelite Priests stepped into the water 💦 a miraculous thing happened. What was it? It was the Lord God Almighty parting the waters of the Jordan River just like he had done previously with the Red Sea for Moses.

Has God done miraculous things in your life? Have you ever stopped a reflected on all he has done for you? I have from time to time and realize I would not be who I am or where I am except for the power and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. I encourage you to make the time to reflect on what God has done for you and the obstacles he has seen you through.
Joshua instructed the people of Israel to be courageous, keep God’s commandments, and love the Lord. He reminded them of all the amazing miracles they had seen when they had been faithful, and of the bad things that happened when they didn’t keep God’s commandments. Do you believe that good things happen in your life more so when you are being faithful to Him? Can you see where and how things are more difficult when you do not follow God’s instructions? I know there’s a tremendous difference in my life when I’m listening and following God’s guidance and when I’m trying to live my life under my own power.

I encourage you to be courageous, to not judge others, and to stand firm in your faith for truth and righteousness. Let God be your guide as you walk daily, with faith and courage.

God bless. Be courageous. Be faithful. Be strong. Thank you! Remember I appreciate y’all.

God bless. Thank you. Remember I appreciate y’all. Have fun sharing your Sunday Cell Pics.

Welcome back everyone. Sorry to be delayed in posting part two of the life of Nornal Hule Waters. Had an incident with my grandson that needed my attention. He, my grandson, loves to get into everything even when he’s been told a million times (at least it seems that many) not to get into certain things like the kitchen drawers, for example. Yesterday, he managed to get into the kitchen drawers and proceeded to take things out. Now here’s where the problem came into effect. One of the drawers he opened was the knife drawer. Yes, that’s right, you heard me correctly. He not only opened the knife drawer, but also took out a knife and hence cut himself. This was all before his mom or I got up for the day. He came into my room with blood all over his hand. Thus, the delay in writing this post. Sorry for any inconvenience and the delay.
We left off last time with Nornal being discharged from the Navy and beginning to work for Pearson Ford. Also, we discussed his marriage in 1951 and the birth of his son in 1953. Today, we pick up from there. Nornal was not used to big city life, and he missed his family. That being the case, in 1954 or 1955 (I’m not sure which) He decided to pack up his wife and son and move them approximately 2,414 miles (maybe more the current interstates were not built yet) across the country from the west coast to the east coast to live near his family. They bought a house at Walnut Street down the road from his parents’ home. They lived there around four years give or take. While living in Great Falls, South Carolina he worked for the local Ford dealership where he worked before joining the Navy. They visit the beach, went to church every Sunday and interacted with his family on a regular basis.
On May 19, 1956, along came a daughter with blonde hair and light brown eyes. [ In case you were wondering, that’s me.] Nornal thought everything was going smoothly and his wife was adjusting to living in a small southern town. However, she was not adjusting to the small southern town lifestyle, and she missed her family back in San Diego.

It was during the spring of 1958 that he and his family moved back to California. He packed his wife and children aboard a train and sent them off to San Diego, California. Meanwhile, he loaded up their belonging into a truck (not sure if it would have been a U-Haul or something similar) and drove himself and their belongings across the country leaving the east coast and his parents and siblings behind.
After arriving back in San Diego, they moved into a sub-portion of his wives’ parents’ home. Their place was attached but had separate living areas and entrances. They shared the garage space and laundry facilities located under the home. The washer that was used by Doyce Eileen (she preferred to go by her middle name) was an old wringer washer and the clothes were all hung up on a clothesline to dry. They continued to live next to Eileen’s parents until they were able to purchase their own home in 1960.
The house they purchased was located on South Meadowbrook Drive. It was newly built in 1960. They became they property’s first owners. It was a single-family residential home on a 7,100 sq. ft. lot. The house itself was 1,029 sq. ft. It had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, plus the living room, dining area, and kitchen. It also had an attached garage with a door that led into the kitchen. It had a good-sized fenced backyard. The average home cost in 1960 was around $11,900. The same house is valued at $696,731 in today’s market.

Nornal and his family lived in the home on S Meadowbrook until the Summer of 1968. [This is the home I lived in while attending elementary school.] That summer Nornal and Eileen purchased a home in the Allied Gardens area of San Diego. It was a four-bedroom home, but the front bedroom was converted into a dining room. Nornal lived in this home until the day he passed from this life.

Throughout the years, approximately every three to four years, Nornal and his family would travel across country on vacation, during the summer, to visit his mom and dad and siblings. [I enjoyed these trips, more so as I grew older] Every trip we took across country by car, he would plan for us to visit something historical and something fun. One year we visited Mount Vernon and we visited Six Flags over Georgia. We toured Washington D.C., visited Stone Mountain in Georgia, Six Flags over Texas, Tweetsie Railroad in North Carolina, and various other places. I do not recall them all, I just remember he insisted we visit something of historical significance and not just something fun on every trip we took.
Nornal was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, in 1994, (maybe sooner, I’m not sure). His cancer spread into his limb nodes and eventually into his bones. Nornal and Eileen did not travel much after his Cancer diagnosis. He underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments. However, the affects took a toll on his body, and did not completely rid his body of cancer. After a two-year battle struggling to fight cancer, he lost the battle and left for his home in glory. [I will never forget the evening he left this world behind; I miss him every day.]
He did live to see me have children and had a small amount of time to interact with them. I will always treasure the photos of him with my children.

Thank you for visiting and listening to me recall my dad’s life on the anniversary of his birth. God Bless. Love your family, forgive them, and always keep communication open. You never know when your last day will be to connect with them.

God Bless. Nature Inspires. Enjoy God’s beautiful creations. Thank you! Remember I appreciate y’all.
Nornal Hule Waters was born in Lancaster, South Carolina to John Thomas Waters and Mary Alma Jorden (aka Jordan) on May 24, 1929. He and his parents lived in Lancaster until 1934. Two years after his birth he gained a sister when his parent’s had Mary Dalline Waters on March 31, 1931. His little brother, Eddie Woodrow Waters was born three years later at home in Great Falls, South Carolina on June 25, 1934.

From my understanding my dad’s family moved a few times from Lancaster to Great Falls a couple times. Nornal went to School in Great Falls. He lived with his family in a house, once known as a Mill House, at 14 Walnut Street which was directly across from Miller’s Grocery and kitty corner from the J P Stevens Mill #3.

Upon completing his education, Nornal began working at the local Ford dealership in Great Falls. He worked there until he joined the US Navy, at the age of nineteen, on September 24, 1948. From South Carolina, he was transferred to San Diego Naval Base in San Diego, California.

While at San Diego Naval Base, he received training as a hospital corpsman through the Naval Hospital. Upon completion of his training, he was assigned to the U.S.S. Consolation. He served in the Navy from his enlistment in 1948 until his discharge in 1952. During his time aboard the U.S.S. Consolation, he was out at sea helping the wounded soldiers during the Korean War.

During the time he was stationed in San Diego, he met Doyce Eileen Watson. The dated during the times he was in port, and after a time they decided to marry. So, at the age of twenty-two Nornal and Doyce drove to Yuma, Arizona and got married on July 31, 1951. [I guess that Arizona did not have a waiting period at that time]. Shortly after they were married, he brought her home to Great Falls, South Carolina to meet his family.

They stayed with his parents during his leave and Doyce was able to spend time with not only his parents but also his brother and sister. Once his leave was over, they drove back to San Diego. They shared a home together and he decided not to reenlist in the Navy. He was discharge from the Navy on September 24, 1952. After getting out of the Navy, He went to work for Pearson Ford in San Diego. He continued working there for thirty-five plus years. He worked in the Parts Department, keeping track of the parts inventory and servicing customer needs. On June 1, 1953, Nornal and Doyce had a son they named Larry Dean Waters.
Thank You for visiting. I will continue the remembrance of my father, Nornal Hule Waters, in my next post. Remember I appreciate y’all.

In a previous post entitled Recovering and Moving Adjustments, I discussed our moving and the adjustments being frustrating. For Coleman, it appears he is not adjusting too well yet to sleeping in a new place. He has the same bed, but has not been allowed, so far, on the top bunk. We/I have concerns about his safety on the top bunk. In his room in the new apartment, we now live in, there is a ceiling fan where the fan blades stretch across part of the top bunk.
Coleman is rambunctious and curious. He loves to climb, turn lights on and off, and investigate anything and everything he can get his hands on. I’ve already discovered him tuning on the fan from the top bunk after climbing up. I, myself, had difficulty turning it back off without getting hurt from the blades. So how can I allow him to sleep 💤 on the top bunk he enjoys being on when I’m concerned he’ll get hurt?
He’s been waking up after only a few hours of sleep, and exciting his room. After leaving his room, he proceeds to turn on every light in the kitchen, hallway, and living room. Then he rummages through the kitchen drawers and the boxes yet to be unpacked. When he gets bored with that he comes into my room. Thus, preventing me from sleeping. Hence, I am exhausted during the day from lack of sufficient sleep.
I want my energetic cooperative little boy back. The problem is I am not sure how to achieve his sleeping through the night again and staying in his own room all night to sleep. The rest of us, especially myself, would appreciate a full night of uninterrupted peaceful sleep.

Can you understand my frustrations and my being exhausted? Pray for us that a solution can be found to remedy this problematic situation.
God bless. Thank you for listening. Remember I appreciate y’all.

Isaiah 41:10

“ For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
Luke 1:37
“The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.”
Psalm 29:11

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Why do people drink and drive? Some people that drink and drive do not think they have a problem with alcohol. They think they can handle it and that drinking alcohol won’t impair their judgment. However, I know for a fact that drinking alcohol does have an effect on a person’s judgment while behind the wheel of a car.

People that drink when something is bothering them, or when they get upset with someone often do not think that they are an alcoholic. A person that can go days without drinking is considered a moderate drinker. An alcoholic cannot go days or weeks without a drink. To them it is an essential part of their lives. Alcohol takes priority over their financial responsibilities, their family obligations, work, and social gatherings with friends.
Some alcoholics drink to suppress negative moods, such as anxiety and depression. Some drink to feel good and to escape unpleasantness. They might also use alcohol to help them deal with or manage uncomfortable situations and emotions. During these times their depression, anxiety, or paranoia get worse after drinking.
I cannot speak for everyone, but I know when I drank it affected by ability to drive, and to care for my infant child. It took time, but I quit drinking thirty-eight years ago. I took me almost losing my son to jerk me awake to the need to stop drinking. I had responsibilities and a child that needed me.
Not everyone that drinks have come to that point of understanding yet. I know for a fact that my son-law has not come to that realization in his life to this point in time. His drinking and driving have impaired his judgment whether he realizes it or not. I witness the affects his drinking has on my daughter. It stresses her out and sends her heart racing, jeopardizing her life. Last night he went out drinking and driving. He was supposed to be going and picking up my daughter from work and bringing her home. Instead, he goes to the local convenience store and buys beer. He then proceeded to drink multiple beer cans while driving. He wound up not arriving at her work to pick her up. At which time, she proceeded to try and work home. Her work is over four miles from home. She has a heart condition, and the added stress from his behavior and walking to try to get home sent her heart racing to the point where her heart rate was 210 BPM. Way too high, which affected her breathing and her ability to keep walking.
His drinking impairment caused him too not even be able to see her as she was walking, and he drove past her. He didn’t just drive past her once, but several times. When he finally did stop to pick her up, he continued to drink and drive and drove at speeds over 80 miles per hour. Thus, in dangerous my daughter’s life again. He has put so much stress on her with his drinking and his unwillingness to stop drinking and driving. It makes me extremely upset. She loves him, I do not understand why, but maybe I do. Her father was an alcoholic, whom I loved very much. It is hard to come to the point where one is strong enough to admit they have had enough.
I am not sure if he will stop and not drink and drive again. I have to admit that I am worried about his alcohol abuse and the effects it has on my daughter and grandson. I do not see how he hasn’t been pulled over by the cops while he’s been drinking and driving with open alcohol containers in the vehicle, not to mention the weed he almost always has in his vehicle. I know he has even drunk and drove with my two-year-old grandson in the car. I am concerned for his and my daughter’s safety.
For those of you that prayer, I would request prayers for him and my family. Prayer that he soon wakes up and realize the harmful effects is drinking has on others, especially the family.
Thank you for visiting and listening to me. I appreciate y’all.

Thank you! Remember I appreciate y’all.

Gotta love his antics. Always into something, investigating his surroundings.
Thank you! Remember I appreciate y’all.

Thank you! Remember I appreciate y’all. May you gain wisdom throughout your days.

Picture was taken in the late 1960’s, probably somewhere between 1966 – 1968. The picture was taken in San Diego, California where we lived on South Meadowbrook. I’m not sure if this was in May or December. The bicycle was a present I received. It was my first 24” bike after my old stingray. I believe it was a Schwinn. I was excited to receive it back then. Back when times seemed simpler and a kid could just be a kid and have fun.
Thank you! Remember I appreciate y’all. Enjoy life.

“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others.”
— Cicero
What is Gratitude? Gratitude is the quality of being thankful; the readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. It is a positive emotion that is associated with several mental and physical health benefits. When one is grateful, you respond with kindness and generosity.
“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
— Melody Beattie, Author

“O Lord that lends me life, lend me a heart replete with thankfulness.”
— William Shakespeare

“I know for sure that appreciating whatever shows up for you in life changes your personal vibration. You radiate and generate more goodness for yourself when you’re aware of all you have and not focusing on your have-nots.”
— Oprah Winfrey
When we practice being grateful in our thinking, we turn our attitudes and our attention away from negativity and then we focus on those things that are working in our lives, and how far we have already come on our journey. Being grateful helps us release the pressure of worry and can brighten pour outlook on life. Gratitude helps us to relax and feel joy and contentment in our present circumstances.

Thank You! I appreciate y’all and am grateful for each and every one. Join with me in practicing gratitude on a daily basis.

Today, May 15th, is National Peace Officers Memorial Day. The day was proclaimed back in 1962 by President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, that May 15th be known as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week which May 15th falls as National Police Week. It was established by a joint resolution of Congress to honor those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

It is important that we remember and honor all federal, state, and local officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice while in the line of duty, all those who were killed or disabled serving to protect our lives and the communities we live within.
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is located in the center of the 400 block of E Street, NW, Washington, DC. It is the nation’s monument to law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. The Memorial was dedicated on October 15, 1991. It honors federal, tribal, state, and local officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving to ensure the safety and protection of our nation and its people.

Currently, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., United States, at Judiciary Square, honors 23,229 U.S. law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty throughout American history.
The memorial features four bronze lions. two male and two females, each one watching over a pair of lion cubs. Below each lion is a different quotation:
“It is not how these officers died that made them heroes, it is how they lived.”
— Vivian Eney Cross, Survivor
“In valor there is hope.”
— Tacitus
“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are as bole as a lion.”
— Proverbs 28:1
“Carved on these walls is the story of America, of a continuing quest to preserve both democracy and decency, and to protect a national treasure that we call the American dream.”
— President George H.W. Bush

Please join with me in honoring our fallen peace officers, those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in giving their lives in death while serving to protect you and me, our nation, our communities, and all those who live here in America. You may or may not know any of them personally as I have, but regardless our peace officers (law enforcement officers) are putting their lives on the line every day. Why? They have the strong desire to keep our nation, our states, our local communities safe and work extremely hard to protect every one of the citizens living in America.
Dear Lord, I pray for the protection of our law enforcement officers that serve and protect us. Hep them to walk safely through their communities with honor so they that they can keep the peace. Help them to be humble and honest as they perform their duties. Lord, I also pray that you be with their families as the wait at home with anguish for their loved one to return from a dangerous mission. Calm their hearts and minds as they wait at home. Amen.
Thank you! I appreciate y’all. Stay safe. Please pray for our law enforcement officers safety.
Apologies for being absent from the blog for the past week. Our home is still in recovery mode from illnesses. My daughter and grandson are now better and for them most part over Covid. The rest of us have been fighting spring allergies that have drained our energy. On top of all that, we had to move. Our landlord informed us he was not renewing the lease, that he had other plans for the property, and we would have to move out. It had been a real struggle to find a place to move to. Rent prices have skyrocketed, in my opinion, way too high. They are outrageous, more than doubled in the past two years. Incomes have not gone up, except for a minutest amount kin comparison to the higher inflation.
A little less than a month’s notice time wasn’t enough to sufficiently locate an ideal place to live. However, we did end up locating a place. Not one like we would have preferred, but a place all the same. We just finished moving our belongings yesterday. It is a major adjustment for all of us, but even more so for my two-year-old grandson. It is difficult for him to understand that he can’t take off and run around outside without us right near him. He was used to having a large yard to run, hike, and play in and now we have no yard. We went from living in a single wide trailer with an acre of land to an apartment with a small patio and no yard. We were able to bring his trampoline with us which is a big help in assisting with his adjustment.

This move inhibits his freedom to roam like he has been used to. Therefore, after we’ve all had time to settle into the new living arrangements, I’ll need to find places close by where we might be able to walk to for him to have some time to run and pay and burn off his excess energy.
I hope you’ll all be patient as I get back into the groove of blogging as my own energy slowly returns to normal. Thank you for visiting. remember I appreciate y’all.

My grandson, Coleman, loves to get ahold of my phone 📱 and snap multiple pictures. Just gotta love his expressions as he hams it up in front of the camera.
God Bless. Thanks for visiting. Remember I appreciate y’all.
