This week my selections come from my archives. It has been cold and rainy, and I decided not to talk my walking/hiking buddy out in this chilly weather. These photos are from a walk around the lake at Cane Creek Park in Waxhaw, Union County, North Carolina I took with my granddaughter in 2018.

Duck is the common name for numerous species of waterfowl in the family Anatidae. These ducks swim freely in the lake and sometimes come onto the shore.

On Sunday I Coleman & I went to a going away party at Anne Springs Close Greenway before our hike. A couple from my hiking club are leaving and going full time RVing. They had been long time members of the hiking club.

Displayed on string across the windows are pictures of the couple together and singularly on various hike with the hiking club.

The party was a huge success. Great turn out to let our friends know we, as members of the hiking club, will miss them. We wish them Good Luck, Safe Travel, Happy Trails, and let them know they will truly be missed.

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to borrow my daughter’s car. So, Coleman and I took a drive to the Fort Mill Dam and then to Catawba Park. We walked around and enjoyed the scenery.

Coleman does more running around in the playground area, it is hard to keep up with him. I do not run.

Veterans Day originally was called Armistice Day. It started in 1919 on the one-year anniversary of the end of World War I. It was made a national holiday in 1938 and later renamed “Veterans Day” in 1954. The renaming was to enable the ability to honor all veterans from every U.S. war.

Veterans Day is the time for each and every one of us to show our appreciation for the military men and women who have served our country. On this day, we celebrate the attributes that we most admire in those who serve: Courage. Honor. Sacrifice. Selflessness. The sacrifices Veterans’ make are selfless and immeasurable. For a tremendous number of Veterans, those sacrifices did not end when they came home from duty. For some others, they paid the ultimate sacrifice to defend Freedom. It was their testament to their unbelievable loyalty, bravery, and commitment. All Veterans are Heroes.

Veterans Day is always on November 11th regardless of what day of the week it falls on. Why is it always on the 11th? This date in particular recognizes the Armistice of November 11, 1918, the formal agreement which marked the official end of World War I. It was on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 when allied forces and Germany came together to sign the peace treaty.
Veterans Day gives the country an opportunity to thank those who previously served in the U.S. military. It is different from Memorial Day in that aspect. Memorial Day honors those military members who died while serving their country. It is also different from Armed Forces Day. Armed Forces Day celebrates and recognizes those currently serving in the U.S. military.

Today, I want to thank all Veterans for their service to our country and the sacrifices they made and continue to make to ensure the Freedoms I and all of us are allowed to enjoy. I am also remembering my ancestors who served our great nation and those family members still living who served the United States Military.
Pictured in the slideshow above are Calvin C. Miller, Confederate Soldier in the Civil War, is the paternal grandfather of wife of my great-grandfather. Harvey Martin Watson, U.S. Army, my maternal grandfather, served during World War I.
In this slideshow are my dad, Nornal Hule Waters, U.S. Navy who served during the Korean War. Eddie Woodrow Waters, my uncle and my dad’s brother, U.S. Army who also served during the Korean War.
Pictured in this slideshow group are my brother, Larry Dean Waters, U.S. Air Force he served during the time of Desert Storm. My son, David Clyde Wilson, U.S. Marines served in Afghanistan.
In this day and age, we need to remember and thank our Veterans and those serving more than once a year. We should thank them every day for their service. Pray for them daily. The sacrifices they made; we know nothing about. For some, their struggles didn’t end when they came home but are ongoing. Too many veterans fight daily internal struggles. We need to do more to insure they have their needs met and are able to receive whatever resources necessary for them to feel valued, respected, and honored.
Again, Thank you Veterans for your services and sacrifices to the United States of America.
God Bless. Thank you! I appreciate y’all.

Coleman, my grandson and my walking/hiking buddy hiked the Seven Oaks Preserve Trail on Tuesday afternoon. It was a warm sunny day unlike the past couple of days where it has been chilly, windy, and rainy.

Whenever I have the opportunity to go out, it is almost always with my grandson, Coleman. He loves to hike. He doesn’t tend to walk much but run along the trail. I walk/hike and try my best to keep up with him. We always see different amazing and interesting things as we hike along the various trails.

My grandson, Coleman and I went for a walk through the city to see what shops were in walking distance from our apartment and spotted these bright yellow flowers along the way.

These flowers are Bidens. They are known by several common names as you can see from the various names I used for the photos. Bidens is a genus of flowering plants in the aster family, Asteraceae. The common names beggarticks, black jack, burr marigolds, cobbler’s pegs, Spanish needles, and tickseed sunflowers refer to the fruit of the plants.

Lily of the Valley, let Your sweet aroma fill my heart.
Roses of Sharon, show me how to live in beauty in God’s eyes.
Fairest of Ten Thousand, make me a reflection of Your love.
Daystar, shine down on me, let Your love shine thru me in the night
Samoan-Lyrics.com

To bloom in beauty like Lily of the Valley would be to allow Jesus Christ to fill our hearts with with his love and allowing his love to shine through us.
Lily of the Valley, in Victorian times, was meant as a sign of the return to happiness. It is also seen as a symbol of humility and a sign of Christ’s second coming.

Lily of the Valley is mentioned in various songs as in the partial song lyrics above. Also in the song lyrics listed below.
I’ve found a friend in Jesus, He’s everything to me
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul
The Lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole
The Lily of the Valley lyrics © Integrity’s Hosanna! Music
The second song lyrics refers to Jesus as The Lily of the Valley. He is my everything, he there for me always and he brings beauty into my life, strengthening me daily.

Solomon 2:1 Amplified Bible
“I am the rose [of the plain] of Sharon, The lily of the valleys [that grows in deep places].”
Our beauty, love and grace comes from the Heavenly Father and imparted unto us through the Lord JesusChrist.
The Lily of the Valley is a return to happiness. A verse in the book of Psalms expresses a daily promise of a return to happiness and that we should rejoice.
“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24 KJV (King James Version)
Only through Jesus Christ can I be made beautiful in his eyes. He makes everything beautiful in his time. I must come to God daily in humility and repentance so he can impart his grace and forgiveness upon me and grow in me a thirst for his love, grace and truth.
“He hath made every thing beautiful in his time….
Ecclesiastes 3:11 KJV ( King James Version)
I pray that God’s beauty and the fragrance of Jesus’ presence can be seen in my life, in my words and my actions and may others see his love bloom through me.
God bless. May Christ’s love, grace, and happiness bloom in your lives. Thank you! I appreciate y’all.

These past two weeks my family and I have been suffering from bad cases of bronchitis. Therefore, I have not been able to get out and about like I would prefer. My grandson definitely prefers being outdoors in nature to being cooped up in our apartment. Hopefully we’ll be able to get back outside in the next few days.

Welcome to my world. Filled with unexpected surprises, love, and adventures ( sometimes misadventures), but who cares. We are family and we love each other.
